Introducing Gribble Williams

James and I could not be happier about our upcoming addition, because we have decided not to find out the gender of the baby we are calling it Gribble for the time being. Gribble is due February 6, 2011, I am currently coming to the end of week 10!
I have to say that so far things have been pretty great! As many of you know James had been worried about hours at work in the past few months, but since the news of the pregnancy things seem to be going our way and James is working his normal schedule! He also has feelers out for more photography work, so if anyone knows someone looking for an assistant or upcoming weddings etc. please let us know. Things at my work are going pretty good too. I am getting plenty of hours and my co-workers and boss are very supportive.Of course, our families are very excited for my mom, and both of James parents this will be the first grand baby. Our plethora of siblings are also quite anxious, Jenny and Kelli have already begun buying things (thank you!) Sadly (or not so sadly) we have lost a member of our household recently; that's right Adrianne is gone. James found an Herperarian society, which is kind of like an ASPCA for snakes, where she will be well taken care of until she has a new home.
I have been feeling pretty well, I had a couple of weeks of morning sickness but it's mostly gone now and I have been really tired! I have heard the first trimester makes women sleepy but it really is surprising how sleepy. Also, no one told me I would feel like I had a sinus infection? But it turns out that with all of the extra blood my body is pumping that it can effect the vessels in the nose and nasal passages. All in all, if a stuffy nose and sleepy-ness are the worst of it I am a happy lady.
We had our first appointment last week on the 8th, it was amazing to see our little thumbprint sized bundle of joy wiggling and kicking! I have to say that I LOVE my Dr. and if anyone has Kaiser and is looking I highly recommend Dr. Perez. James insisted that I was screened for cystic fibrosis along with the other normal blood tests, but we declined all other genetic screening. While we are still waiting for the CF results everything else is normal. Hopefully that means I won't have to get poked again until the 20th or 28th week.
Normally I am such a planner and want to be ahead of things, but other than wanting to get a lot of the nursery done before the fall semester starts I haven't been SUPER productive. I think I am acknowledging that when I have the baby I won't be able to be such a control freak and I am taking it easy with baby prep. I figure as long as I have diapers, wipes, and blankets we will be set, right :) However, I am hoping to have the "major" stuff taken care of before the end of August. I know that when I go back to school I won't have a lot of time to do baby things, or at least don't want the distraction during my last semester. And by the time I graduate in December I will probably pretty round and won't want to have to sit on the floor assembling a crib, or be able to help James carry things upstairs, lol. When we moved in to our home we painted one of the rooms a light buttery yellow knowing that we would use it for the eventual baby. I have decided to use navy blue as the accent color, yes I know that many people think that blue is too boy-ish but I think that it will look nice and don't mind. I am going to go through my old kids books and going to cut out pages from them to use as well art and to decoupage furniture.
Week 10 was a week full of firsts for us. I had James take pre-baby bump pics, bought my first set of new (read as maternity) clothes, and bought our first baby items! Like all of the pics James takes although I just wanted a few snapshots he got out the lights and back drop, he hasn't edited them yet but promised he would today. Clothes shopping was fun, I took Katie with me and we got a few tops that I can wear with leggings and a new moo-moo (maxi-dress).The gigantic new bra's were much less exciting, but hopefully I won't have to do that again til the end. My first baby purchase was diapers! James and I have decided to explore the cloth diaper option. I know that a lot of you just winced, but we figure that you have to deal with gross diapers whether you can just throw them away or not, so why spend the money? If anyone has suggestions or know someone who uses cloth I would love to hear it. I bought one GroVia all in one with snap closure diaper and a bumGenius 4.0 aplix pocket diaper. These two seem to be the most popular of their kind and had really great reviews.
Now that I feel like I have written a novel, I am gonna sign out.
